North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing accessible and culturally responsive healthcare services. Working with refugees, asylum seekers, newly-arrived immigrants and people of different cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds, the organisation offers primary healthcare, dentistry, harm reduction initiatives and community support. The Challenge: Piecing Together a Fragmented System

Prior to integrating with Checkmate, NRCH’s People & Culture team managed hiring compliance through a fragmented process. Hiring managers conducted reference checks manually over the phone, while police checks, right-to-work verifications and Working with Children checks were handled separately. This often led to the recruitment team dealing with inefficiencies and delays.

“It was harder to manage because everything was in different baskets—reference checks, police checks, working with children checks and right-to-work checks all required separate processes. “Once we move someone into the reference check stage, I get a notification to initiate Checkmate. I can then send candidates directly to the Checkmate portal and add the necessary checks.”
